Hey all, sorry for the delayed postings but there hasn't been a whole lot going on the past few weeks. Well, that's all about to change. After making some money pruning and picking grapes in Margaret River, Western Australia, Adam and I have finally started our trek up the coast. Currently in Broome where it's a gorgeous 36 degrees with 68% humidity. OK, gorgeous may be an overstatement, but I'm sure my Mom would love it.
On the way up here, 2 highlights were Karinjini National Park and Ningaloo Reef.
Ningaloo was ridiculously cool. All of you must buy snorkel gear and go swimming there forthwith. We snorkeled at Coral Bay, Lakeside, Turquoise and Oyster Stacks, and they were all spectacular areas. We saw dozens of varieties of fish, really cool coral, and at Lakeside I even swam with a sea turtle for 20 minutes as he toured me around the reef. Just amazing.
Karinjini isn't much to to look at driving through the park, just a bunch of rolling hills and red dirt. Then you get to a lookout and gaze down.... and down.... and over 300 feet down to the bottom of the gorge. Then you climb down into the gorge (it's actually cooler down there), hike down between sheer canyon walls and go for a compulsory swim in the beautiful freshwater pools scattered throughout the park. Fern Pool, Circular Pool and Kermit's Pool were all amazing and pretty difficult to describe unless you've spent a lot of time hanging around million dollar rock gardens (pictures are coming, don't worry). We saw a Dingo up close and personal, which was pretty cool. It didn't eat any babies, but a Kangaroo snuck into our campsite and stole an ENTIRE LOAF of bread one night.
All told, really cool trip up the west coast, and whenever you guys show up over here, you definitely have to check it out. So long for now.
