Work, work...

Yes, I am working. Adam and I have been working on a vineyard for the past 2 weeks, and that's all I have to say about that. Oh, and I kissed a camel. Pictures to come.

Rottnest Island

So, the other day, Adam, Sarah (a traveling locum from Toronto, she was also staying at Jane and Gerry's place) and I went to Rottnest Island near Perth.

As you can see, Adam and I have really bulked out since coming down under:

Sarah's camera can take pictures underwater, so here are a few of those:

Adam and I swimming through this underwater canyon.

Adam's fish (I can't take any credit for this shot).

Sarah

Congratulations, you've now seen a Quokka, Rottnest Island's contribution to strange Australian wildlife.

And after a hard day's snorkeling there's nothing left to do but take a nap on the beach.

That's all for now, take care folks!

On The Road Again

Well, after 10 days in Perth, Adam and I are heading out. We're going to head south, maybe pick some grapes and probably hang out on some beaches. We went snorkeling the other day and that was a hoot (I may get some pics up later today), but mostly we've just been relaxing and preparing for the next stage of our journey (car maintenance and buying supplies). I'm not sure what internet access will be like over the next couple of weeks, so if you don't hear from me, don't take it personally and assume the best. Take care all.

The House

Or 'Where I've Been Staying The Past Few Days'. This post is at the request of my Mom, who wants to see where I've been staying.

This is Gerry and Jane's place, and they've been kind enough to put me and Adam up for a few days.

When it gets a little hot out, we all go for a nice relaxing swim in their pool or down at the beach (which is about a 2 minute walk away). It's a tough life, but somebody's gotta do it.

Every morning, I'm greeted by an ocean view (the picture really doesn't do it justice) as I crawl out of my very comfy twin bed.
You know, I was hoping for a king-sized bed, but sometimes you just have to suck it up and take what you can get. That's all for now, take care.

Go West

Well, I went West, and this is how it was: big, flat and empty. For 2800 km over 5 days of driving. There was some nice coastal cliff scenery along the way

And we saw some camels

Plus a whale

Further on down the road, we stopped in at beautiful Esperence for a swim

And then it was onwards to the Hippo's Yawn (that's me about to meet my demise)

And Wave Rock (Adam's on the left, and just to his right is Kai, our temporary travel companion)

We got into Perth for New Year's Eve, where we're staying at Adam's neighbour's brother's place. Gerard and Jane are really great and we've had a really great time at their place. They have this fantastic solar hearted pool, and their place is a 2 minute walk from the beach, which is absurdly warm.

Yesterday, we spent the day in nearby Fremantle just wandering around. It's a cool old town with lots of small shops and old, dilapidated buildings.

Also, they have this big cold war submarine.

Today, we're headed into the big city to look for some work.

Until next time, stay cool Canada.

Murray Area Pics

Here are the pics from my Murray River post, in no particular order.

The Adelaide Hills (this picture really doesn't do them justice).

And if you're ever going through my posts and you think to yourself, "What is Christian going on about now?", just remember that in Australia:
