In the Burg

So I spent the last 2 days in Luxemburg, and I'm hooked. It's simply a gorgeous city, not very large, but it has a whole lot of culture. You can walk right across town in an hour, but it would take weeks to explore everything this gem has on offer. The Old Town is the highlight. It's basically a big, old fort. There are over 23 km of tunnels built into the rock (some of which I got to explore).

There's also tons of old architecture, much of it dating from the 16th century. Below is the Grand Ducal Palace, part-time home of the Luxemburg royal family.

Below is a picture of one of Luxemburg's many banks, jutting out over the extremely lush parkland that spreads throughout much of the city. Just a beautiful place: not too big, and not too small (and not overrun by tourists), I loved Luxemburg. By the wat, I just arrived in Brussels.

Luxembourg looks so lush! I always thought it would be buildings packed tight.

Yeah..."How many buildings can we pack into 1000 sq miles? We're running out of space here..."

Maybe that is what the tunnels are for.

(Also, I will admit that I wikipediad Luxembourg to get the square milage. I'm not that good.)

Yeah, it's a gorgeous city. There's not a whole lot in terms of attractions, but it is really nice to just wander around in. And it's small enough that you can't get lost ( aconstant problem of mine).

You better not be getting lost! You don't have that compass-watch for nothin'!

Haha... don't get lost on any transit systems now, ya' hear?

Is this 23km of tunnel underneath the city? Or seperate somewhere else? Regardless: cool!

The tunnel is all underneath the old part of the city. And I get lost all the time, even with that compass watch. It is a life-saver though, really helps me find my way back to where I ought to be.
