So, it turns out that to vote abroad, you need a lot more foresight than I had. Oh well, just so long as Harper doesn't wipe the floor too thoroughly, I'll be happy.
Just want to add that Rome is sweet, but tomorrow I'm off to Florence. Right now, it's time to find some dinner...

SPOILER ALERT:
Conservative minority, Liberal Opposition, Bloc/NDP joint mediate. Bloc has more seats, NDP has more votes.
Exactly what I predicted.
I think we've seen this before...
NDP won in Strathcona ie: the only non-conservative riding in Alberta.
Your vote alone was worth three million votes. YOU LET US DOWN.
The Strathcona upset for NDP was definitely the surprise of the night for Albertans, I must say. And, naturally, the defeated Conservative in that riding is calling for a review of the totals.
But the biggest surprise was that Elizabeth May was ousted as leader of the Green Party. Not that it matters much, seeing as they didn't win a single seat in the House of Commons, but it was still considered Breaking News.
-Edmonton-Strathcona actually wasn't a complete surprise for those of us in the riding! Just about the hardest working NDP candidate against the laziest Conservative, in the University area. It was great though when Jaffer gave a victory speech when he was 1 500 votes up in the count... only to have the university poll stations come in later. Exciting stuff!
Sounds like some good times 'round Italia! Yeah, Naples is fantastic, in all it's chaos. I remember returning to Canada and thinking there was too much space, everything was too clean... and it's hard to beat pizza from Napoli!
Enjoy the rest of the trip, and we'll have to run into you the next time you're in the continent!
I didn't know Jaffer was going federal, he's a pretty cool cat. And Elizabeth May was ousted? What gives? She was like the only thing lending the Greens any credibility at all.
As for Naples, it was great pizza. But man, I could NOT live there, it's just so intense ALL THE TIME. Great place to visit though.
I much prefer Florence, truth be told. It's nice and relaxed and just a fantastic city.
