Stayin' Alive

Hey all, sorry for the delayed postings but there hasn't been a whole lot going on the past few weeks. Well, that's all about to change. After making some money pruning and picking grapes in Margaret River, Western Australia, Adam and I have finally started our trek up the coast. Currently in Broome where it's a gorgeous 36 degrees with 68% humidity. OK, gorgeous may be an overstatement, but I'm sure my Mom would love it.

On the way up here, 2 highlights were Karinjini National Park and Ningaloo Reef.

Ningaloo was ridiculously cool. All of you must buy snorkel gear and go swimming there forthwith. We snorkeled at Coral Bay, Lakeside, Turquoise and Oyster Stacks, and they were all spectacular areas. We saw dozens of varieties of fish, really cool coral, and at Lakeside I even swam with a sea turtle for 20 minutes as he toured me around the reef. Just amazing.

Karinjini isn't much to to look at driving through the park, just a bunch of rolling hills and red dirt. Then you get to a lookout and gaze down.... and down.... and over 300 feet down to the bottom of the gorge. Then you climb down into the gorge (it's actually cooler down there), hike down between sheer canyon walls and go for a compulsory swim in the beautiful freshwater pools scattered throughout the park. Fern Pool, Circular Pool and Kermit's Pool were all amazing and pretty difficult to describe unless you've spent a lot of time hanging around million dollar rock gardens (pictures are coming, don't worry). We saw a Dingo up close and personal, which was pretty cool. It didn't eat any babies, but a Kangaroo snuck into our campsite and stole an ENTIRE LOAF of bread one night.

All told, really cool trip up the west coast, and whenever you guys show up over here, you definitely have to check it out. So long for now.

Dude!

Glad to hear that you and Adam are still doing great!

Some news back here: It was a balmy +14 today, and it has been above zero every day for the past month or so... it's awesome!

Darrin, Jamie, and I went to dim sum the other day and thought of you! Just as an FYI, we should still all be here when you get back... that is IF you get back! Sounds like you two are having quite the time down there!

And I'm glad to hear that you didn't get eaten by any dingos.... indeed.

Kangaroos... ya can't trust em! Turn your back for one minute and they're hoping off with your bread...

It snowed a foot last night. Yay Grande Prairie weather!

Glad to hear things are picking up over there. Maybe soon you'll get around to posting some pictures!

Jason, I do miss Dim Sum, we should definitely plan to grab a meal when I get back. The weather back home sounds nice, but possibly still to cold to go to the beach...

Stephen, Kangaroos are incapable of hope, it's a common mistake.

Jeremy, HA! (Pictures to follow)

Well, I'm sure glad you're not dead. I got Mass Effect 2, Dragon Age Awakening (expansion for DA Origins) and I'm going to get the new L4Ds DLCs. Also I have to get my wisdom teeth out this April :(

I also played Mass Effect 2, and I ended up liking it so much that before my rental was up, I bought it and Mass Effect 1, and have started the first of what's going to be at least 2 playthroughs of the series.

New Barenaked Ladies album drops on Tuesday, and the concert is on April 14, and I am QUITE psyched.

The weather's been actually pretty kind, even WITH the foot of snow last week. At the moment, they're calling for 6 consecutive days of snow that was supposed to start 12 hours ago, but as yet the clouds haven't broken. One thing this winter has taught me is that listening to weather forecasts is a complete waste of time because they are never, ever, ever accurate.

I've also been working on a Top Secret Project for the last six weeks, the details of which I'm afraid I can't post on the internet. Expect it to be lumped in with all the crazy stories I'm gonna tell you when you get back.

And hey, what's this I heard about Asia now?

@Jeremy
I love all BioWares games (RPGS).
I even did every side quest (at least all the ones I could find). I also romanced Tali, she was always my favorite :P

ZenJos said...

Eh, Tali kept dying and using up all my medi-gels whenever I used her, so I stopped using her. Doing her loyalty mission was brutal, though, because she just WOULDN'T STOP DYING. I focused all my romantic attentions on Kelly because I have a historically noted weakness for redheads. No achievement, sure, but it was worth it.

You know if you make a female character you can still romance her? HILARIOUS!

Tali never died for me, Thane did though.

NEEEERDS!
To be fair, I'll probably play Mass Effect when I get back. BNL concert should be awesome, wish I could be there. As for Asia, I really want to visit it, it's definitely next on my list. When I get there remains to be seen.

Scott, wisdom teeth aren't so bad. You get to miss like a week of school and they give you so many pills that it hardly hurts at all.

the MEs are my favorite RPG series.
And I can't wait to get all hopped up on drugs :P

Mass Effect 2 is so good it made me run out and buy two games. TWO GAMES. I recommend playing ME1 first though, because it's much, much worse, but all the decisions you make in it affect the story of ME2 in such a cool way as to make it worth it.

Next on my palate is Dragon Age. I think I pretty much have to, now. Stupid Bioware and their stupid good games.

Anyways, have fun living life to the fullest in Australia, Chris. We'll be right here, playing video games and hiding from the snow.

Don't listen to Jeremy! ME 1 is fantastic! But they both have their ups and downs.

ZenJos said...

ME1 is fine, it's just hard to get used to after playing the vastly superior ME2. The smartest thing Bioware ever did was remove the stupid Humvee sections.

That's true, I hated the driving.
There is a new dlc for ME2 with driving, it's easier now and it's free :)

While we're all still thinking about Mass Effect 2: http://duckbar.mirror.waffleimages.com/files/04/04dd9f2bc9e791d41f63e7e90ae5b09f3707b76c.jpg

Spoiler warning, I guess.
